    1. Oh! I'd like to hear your accent. At one International English Conference, the lecturer from China presented his presentation regarding is to encourage "accent neutralization",but almost everybody attending the conference opposed that idea. Why?????Because professors from Philippine, England and German argued that accent is a national ID and also more complicated to neutralize. Every participants were agree their arguments.
May be you have heard Chinese accent, Japanese accent, Indian accent and even in England you will hear that the Scottish people speaks in their accent and a guy from India speaking in Indian accent. Most of the educated personnel are not bother about it. Only they look down and contempt the incorrect imitation of accent.
      Thank you.

Real tourist prefer English Fluent American foreigners as tourist guide--truth is truth. But, foreigners do not want to work for low employment rate in Myanmar tourism and Myanmar tourism cannot afford to pay high rates either. So, Myanmar citizens are hired even if those Myanmar citizens' English are not fluent.

Public media and Audience criticize to give feedback to the other party so that he/she can improve and both our lives can be better. But things are not always taken in the right spirit. The outcome of Shattfox's, Shwecin's, Tootsierool's criticism were way far from what was normally expected. You guys are taking other people criticism too seriously---too negatively. Burmese may have Burmese accent as English is not our mother tongue and also English is not even our second language .I have not seen any English ppl complaint about the accent but they may complaint about the level of English.Even in England ,English man can not understand strong scottish accent. Also London city have their own accent and Liverpool have their own Northen accent .
No France ,Italian ,Polish ,African ,etc....can speak English in English accent.I would also like to say the accent is not about the level of English.I would advise everyone to share knowledge than abusing the other .

  22. One of the biggest mistakes people do when dealing with people who criticize them is turning on the defensive side right away by trying to give explanations for their actions. Instead of doing so she must first find out. Comments and feedbacks do not appear stunningly from thin air. They are based from observations. ESL (English as a Second Language). People who have accents in English are people who are born in other countries and are learning English.
One of the biggest mistakes that she and her supporters do when dealing with people who give feedbacks from their observations is turning on the defensive side right away and getting volatile. Instead of doing so she and her supporters must first find out whether the critical comment makes any sense or whether its out of jealousy or any of the previously mentioned reasons. If we compare Miss Myanmar to other nation our Miss Myanmar educational standard is below other countries'.
It is easy to click YES for voting. However, we as audience need to know each candidate. So, we do not vote for the wrong person. Just because we know General Khin Nyunt, Than Shwe, does not mean we should vote for them. Why? What have they done for education, community, self?
It is bias and racist to vote for her just because we are Burmese. It's Democracy. Freedom of the vote. Do not abuse the right to vote.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So, no we will not vote for anyone unless we really know the person. Let's not abuse the freedom to vote.

  24. WHO proves~~~ these are countries where there is no urbanization or development, and fatal diseases such as AIDS and measles are part of everyday life. Myanmar is a Third World Country.

If you compare the employment rate, unemployment rate, paid scales, people with native country accent or thick accents get "LESS" seniority, "LESS" work respect compared to people with little or no accent. Unemployment rate is high for people with thick native country accent. That's the reality ESL speakers have to face.
Not even president speaks perfect English, though with almost little-to-no accent English. Besides, written English and spoken English is difference,so even fluent English Speaker, even the most educated ones, do not speak perfect, grammar-by-grammar-exact English.

    ReplyDelete
  25. When ESL speakers walk into the employment office and is interviewed, when an ESL speaker has a heavy accent and his words are hard to understand as he tries to convince the interviewer that he's educated, interviewer think that the Myanmar thick accent person is the one released from jail.

    1. What exactly is Myanmar? Our observations during June 2012 visit to Myanmar: Let's read the followings:
Democracy is on, and not much has changed, beyond nomenclature. Credit crunch became credit crash, foreign money exchange to Myanmar currency became a crash--Myanmar people are manipulating and ripping off the foreigners and visitors-- and as the latter title proved to be not quite doom-laden enough, consensus gradually settled around Myanmar nation and Global Financial Crisis (from the World Bank). This, too, is an inaccurate term. A crisis is a turning point, for better or for worse, determining a future course of events. Certainly, the failure of international banking provoked a crisis. The crisis, however, has not been in finance. It has been in politics, particularly in public spending.

Global Governmental Crisis would be a more apposite title for this ongoing chaos. And the democracy political chaos is simply a consequence of political failure to fully acknowledge what went wrong with banking, money exchange, money transfer. Is the Myanmar president Thein Sein and current democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi determinedly set about fixing it.

Indeed, there are many forgeries in Myanmar--there are many money mouths. If paid money, fake diplomas, fake work histories, fake real estates contracts, documents can be made within a few hours to a few days. Amazing chaotic Myanmar world--no need to pretend to be good Myanmar citizens, but for all other Myanmar and tourists to be vigilant.

I am wondering why this celebrity-gossip site has turn into some Myanmar-current-affairs forums. no denial that in terms of economics and education, Myanmar is poor. So what? do any good with that? Let pussy people do the pussy things ' Myanmar is poor ...People are uneducated, unscrupulous and susceptible country at large...blah..blah..blah..and People who feel inferiority complex find it offensive and become outrageous'- while we, real men, do the real thing - enjoying ourselves whatever we feel it good as long as it doesn't hurt and conflict others interests, fight everything injustice , pretentiousness, phoniness along the way to the more desirable society.

In other words, when all the pussies are whining, we are laughing at the face of misery.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes, it is important to flesh out the details and depths of an issue. However, public media's insights and observations cautiously adjure Myanmar citizens, foreigners, and tourists to remember that this is just the first step--"Choose people wisely--Do not abuse the freedom to vote."

Now, at this point, we really do not vote for her and will not vote for her because of the followings:
    1. What goods has she done for the country beside the answer reciting words by words just like recognizing TEST question's answers--We are not saying her posture is not professional?
    2. What goods has she done for Shan citizens and Myanmar citizens?
    3. When you carefully look up close and personal, do you really know what kind of personality, attitude she has?
    4. There are not many qualified candidates during the contest, and if we do not choose her there is no one else to choose.

Once this step is complete we must start to seek answers and resolution.

  41. Okay, not being on anyone side but here is the dilemma.

The videos of Nan Khin Zayar were seen and viewed by public.

Okay, she knows about Myanmar and Myanmar culture.

Being MISS INTERNATIONAL is not enough to know only Myanmar culture. She needs to be well aware of other cultures--Other countries' cultures. Some of her hand gestures, speaking, and personalities may appear offensive to other cultures.
Her negligent, callous, inattentive attitudes, gestures, social skills are inappropriate to situations in other cultures.

That's the reason why we feel she is incompetent and insensitive to other nations' cultures.

2 Even Miss Korea is much better than Miss Myanmar.
    3. Myanmar people are racist, ethnocentric, and egotistic----Myanmar people complaining the Miss International Admin for not having pictures of Miss Myanmar.

    Responses from Internationals are:
    1. It's not amount of time she devoted in photo shoots that count.
    2. It's the time that she devotes that counts.
    3. Yelping across facebook and other media sites for Miss International does not count.
